About the event
❗ February 24th – 7:00 PM ❗
Join us for an online conference on the impact of anthrax in African wildlife 🦓
How does anthrax affect wildlife health, veterinary management, and conservation efforts across Africa?
🗣️ We are honored to welcome Dr Ulf Tubbesing, wildlife veterinarian. Dr Tubbesing studied veterinary science at the Onderstepoort Veterinary Faculty, University of Pretoria, South Africa, and after graduation worked in a 24-hour Emergency and Referral Clinic in Johannesburg. He later specialised in Small Animal Internal Medicine and taught as a lecturer at Onderstepoort. Returning to Namibia in 1994, he worked at Windhoek Veterinary Clinic and in 1999 purchased Rhino Park Veterinary Clinic, gaining extensive experience with both small animals and wildlife. Since selling the clinic in 2009, he has focused almost entirely on wildlife veterinary work, accumulating decades of experience with southern African game species. Dr Tubbesing also lectured at UNAM’s Veterinary Faculty until 2024 and regularly speaks at farmers’ days and wildlife veterinary conferences.
📚 Theme: Anthrax in African Wildlife – Anthrax is a serious bacterial disease that can affect many wildlife species, causing sudden death and posing challenges for veterinary management, conservation, and ecosystem health. This talk will explore how anthrax impacts African wildlife populations and what veterinarians and conservationists can do to manage outbreaks effectively.
